We believe in a world with less harm ...   and more community care...

This is a world that Black Creatives are uniquely positioned to catalyze,

in solidarity.

WHO WE ARE
JOIN ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY SPACES

Black Creative Healing

is a platform dedicated to Radical Conversations, Mindful Collaborations, and (w)Holistic Visioning, centering Black Communities.

What does BCH offer?

We seek to be a balm to the gaping wound of systemic oppression on ALL of humanity, centering our efforts on Black folks at the intersection of mental health and creativity. The exponential trauma created by capitalism and white-supremacy has limited everyday peoples' capacities across every aspect of our lives. We believe that if we are going to solve the problem of systemic oppression and generational trauma, it will be through the efforts of people who are well familiarized with the system (which Black folks definitely are!), and people who - with the right space and supports - are able to expand their healing capacity in subversive and keenly attuned ways.

Why the focus on "healing?"

Our work is rooted in the construct of Healing Justice. We believe healing is a process, not a destination, and that it is most effectively undertaken in community with others, particularly in ways that center Black/Indigenous ways of being and doing in the world. We may never see ourselves "healed" in our lifetimes, but what we believe we CAN do is take conscious and care-filled steps, in solidarity, in order to build to the world we wish to see: one with less harm and more community care. We believe this is a world that Black Creatives are uniquely poised to catalyze and nourish.

What do we mean by "centering" ?

Our work centers Blackness from an Indigenously informed perspective. This means that each of us is committed to investigating the many lineages (both blood and knowledge) from which we are descended, and how those lineages impact the ways we move through the world today. We are particularly invested in interrogating and tending to how we interact with/in Black communities, which are often the most intensely impacted by systems of oppression in the Western world. We believe that by centering the needs of Black communities, we can create the kind of world where we ALL get more free. So we have spaces where Black folks can center their needs in community with other Black folks, and spaces where racially mixed groups can practice centering Blackness in community as well.

Our current offerings include a podcast, regularly updated resource list, and care-fully curated online gathering spaces.
